Parker's Problem With Palen, Part II

Just a couple of further thoughts on my problem with Kathleen Parker's The Problem With Palin.

In my previous post, I point out the obvious, that some of the most "experienced" politicians in Washington have brought us to the brink of financial disaster through their insular, greedy, beltway insider, rules don't apply to me thinking. Not one of the major players involved the Fannie/Freddie mismanagement and corruption had an ounce of good judgment or instinct about right and wrong.

The underlying assumption that Palin's lack of national experience and her tepid interview performance disqualifies her from being Vice President is greatly undercut in light of how disgracefully "experienced" politicians have performed in the creation and mismanagement of Freddie/Fannie. Unfortunately, they will never be held accountable because most of them are in safe districts that will vote them in again and again no matter what they do. They all deserve to be sued for corruption, fraud, and mismanagement. Instead, the very crumbs who created the mess are all there writing the bailout to cover their fannies. (No pun intended.)

"Experience" has not made good leaders of the current crop of culprits. One can gain experience. Good judgment and instinct are learned irrespective of experience. In fact, one might say that politicians' experience frequently teaches them how to cheat better.

So where does that leave Sara Palin? She was a very successful mayor and the most popular governor in the country. She is smart and has demonstrated good instincts, good judgment, and integrity in her career trajectory thus far. Just what we need more of in Washington.
